Specialized equipment we use for surgery includes:
Microsurgery facilitated by our Zeiss surgical operating microscope (for surgical magnification), microsurgical instruments, and microscopic suture
Laser therapy using diode medical laser via either laser indirect ophthalmoscope (LIO) or transcleral cyclophotocoagulation probe (TSCPC). Laser therapy is most commonly employed to treat: retinal detachment, retinal holes/tears, glaucoma, inner eye melanoma, or inner eye cysts
Cryotherapy (topical freeze therapy) with Frigitronics CE82 for eyelash disorders and some types of eyelid tumors
Specialized anesthesia monitoring and patient support during surgery: inhalational gas anesthesia, ventilatory breathing, blood pressure monitoring, electrocardiography (ECG), pulse oxymetry (oxygen monitoring) and capnography (carbon dioxide - ETCO2 - monitoring). At Animal Ophthalmology Services, we also have a blood testing laboratory within the hospital.
